El Cerro

Now open in Capitol Hill, a Caribbean-inspired coffee house rooted in community, warmth, and rhythm.

El Cerro is open and serving coffee, pastries, and house-made drinks in a boho-tropical space shaped by Puerto Rican and Caribbean energy. Expect tropical music, thoughtful decor, and a neighborhood atmosphere that feels grounded, warm, and a little joyful.

We serve classic espresso drinks, Caribbean-inspired house drinks, and signature offerings made with 100% single-origin Puerto Rican coffee. Everything in the shop is plant-based, from the coffee program to the baked goods.

Our pastry program features Puerto Rican baked goods from La Antillana and other plant-based favorites from Pika Pantry, bringing together Seattle makers and Caribbean flavors in one welcoming space.

Origins

Coffee that arrives here from hills where place shows up in every flavor.

The coffee we serve comes from farms held in mountain shade, shaped by a microclimate of mist, rainfall, and high elevation. In these conditions, beans develop a layered sweetness and a texture that feels grounded rather than sharp.

Each selection is paired with its producer, its terrain, and the practices that give it character. You can taste the slow drying, the careful fermentation, and the way the landscape shapes notes of roasted cacao, stone fruit, or tobacco bark.

The Space

A boho-tropical atmosphere made for slowing down, listening, and staying a while.

The room is designed to feel warm and layered, with boho and tropical touches that echo the energy of the Caribbean, with relaxed textures, curated decor, and the kind of soundtrack that makes you want to linger.

Tropical music from the Caribbean plays through the space, adding to the mood as coffee is poured, pastries are shared, and neighbors settle in.

Community

A cultural place with gatherings, collaborations, and things to bring home.

El Cerro is built on community. We host events, artist collaborations, tasting sessions, and quiet gatherings that feel more like a salon than a schedule, with the same roots as the coffee: heritage, craft, and shared curiosity.

Our retail offerings are small and intentional, fresh beans, handcrafted ceramics, and goods that let guests take the hill home without losing the thoughtful tone of the place.
